Southwest Veterans FOUNDATION announces
Charitable awards to veteran advocacy organizations
The Southwest Veterans Foundation (SWVF) announced their quarterly charitable awards to three local organizations supporting Veteran needs today at their annual Holiday Luncheon at the historic Wrigley Mansion. The three recipients are Service Dog Fund, Catholic Charities, and the Paradise Valley Community College Veteran Services Program Fund. All three organizations received $1,000.00 checks. .
Service Dog Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to training service dogs for Veterans and their families at a fraction of the cost of acquiring a service dog from most normal channels. Saramarie and Louis Robinson, its Founders, accepted the check and thanked the Foundation for helping to put another trained service dog in the hands of a Veteran in need. Catholic Charities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a wide-range of services to our community, and is especially active in fighting Veteran homelessness. They manage the MANA House (Marines, Army, Navy Air Force).Terry Araman and Wendy Owens accepted the check on behalf of Catholic Charities. Paradise Valley Community College Veteran Services Program Fund is a 501(c)(3) administered by the Maricopa Community College Foundation that provides services and funding to Veteran Services Office and Veteran students at Paradise Vally Community College. Kathaerine Johnson accepted the check on behalf of PVCC and its Veterans and thanked the SWVF for helping them help the Veteran students of PVCC. Ken Speer, President of the SWVF Board of Directors, said, “We are very pleased to be able to make these donations to three deserving non-profit members of the SWVCC. The care of our Veterans, especially those scarred by their service and facing challenges back home, is a duty we all share.”
Tom Sheets, the Executive Director, added that “over the last two years we have donated nearly $30,000 to Veteran causes. All that we have done, all that we are doing, and all that we will ever do, is made possible by the generosity of our SWVCC Members, and our sponsors, donors, and supporters of the SWVF. On behalf of the Veterans and their families who ultimately benefit from this incredible generosity, we thank all that have made our contributions possible.
