SOUTHWEST VETERANS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES
CHARITABLE AWARDS TO VETERAN ADVOCACY ORGANIZATIONS
The Southwest Veterans Foundation (SWVF) announced their quarterly charitable awards to two local organizations supporting Veteran needs. The two recipients are Veterans First and The Ripple Effect. Both organizations will receive $1,000.00 to support their missions and programs.
Veterans First is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preventing homelessness and stabilizing lives among our Women Veterans while providing referrals, resources and information to all Veterans, their families and caregivers. They operate Mary Ellen’s place, a 15 unit complex that provides a comfortable, supportive and safe home for our women veterans with no limit on age or tenancy and assists in preventing homelessness through affordable rent. For more information about Veterans First and Mary Ellen;s place or to donate to its mission, please visit www.veteransfirstltd.org.
The Ripple Effect is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preventing suicide among Veterans by connecting them with Veteran Mentors and organizations that help Veterans and their families heal. The scope of the Veteran suicide issue is huge—as Veterans make up 7% of the US population but 20% of the suicides. The Ripple Effect’s singular focus attacks this issue by supporting the reintegration process and helping the entire Veteran family heal.
